Machine concept
Machine base
Main parts made in cast iron. With active close loop cooling system. Columns made of welded steel with concrete filling .
Two independently working rams
The two rams are mounted on a two column, single beam design.
The two machine rams could either be set up for grinding or hard turning:
Slides system
Vertically mounted hydrostatic slides. The slides are linear motor driven, repeatability accuracy 0.05 μm. Maximum traverse speed 1000 mm/min.
Grinding spindles
High power high-frequency spindles with grinding wheel peripheral surface speeds up to 80 m/s. The grinding wheel is automatically balanced.
NC Dressing
Servo motor driven diamond disc dresser.
Tool changer
For fast cycle times, the machine is equipped with automatic tool changers. Both grinding wheels and turning tools are changed rapidly.
Machine control
Graphical user interface provides user-friendly controls. Control system, Siemens 840D.
The machine uses Acoustic Emission analysis for process supervision and gap-control.
Work head
Fixed position hydrostatic worktable with magnetic chuck. The worktable is torque motor driven.
