The LIDKÖPING SGP 62B is a precision external plunge grinder that offers increased machine flexibility at the same time it gives uniformly superior finished work piece quality. Thanks to its range of modular preset cassettes for work head,
dresser and grinding wheel, short re-setting time can be achieved.

This means more productive machine uptime, whether for short or long production runs. If the machine is supplied without the cassette, then resetting is done internally to the machine. The time needed is then 30 minutes. The SGP 62B’s machine concept makes it possible to load the work piece during dressing, thus minimising
passive times.

Machine Concept

Slide system

Linear motor driven hydrostatic slide, repeatability accuracy 0.05 μm.

Dressing

Hydraulic motor driven full profile diamond roller dresser.

Grinding spindles

The grinding spindle, made by KMT Precision Grinding, is hydrostatic. It is belt driven by a 30  kW asynchronous motor enabling grinding wheel peripheral surface speeds up to 120 m/s. The grinding wheel is automatically balanced.

Work head spindle

The servo motor driven work head spindle, made by KMT Precision Grinding, is also hydrostatic.

Gauging method

In-process 1-finger electronic gauging head.

Machine control

Graphical user interface provides user-friendly controls. Control System, Siemens 840D.
The machine can use Acoustic Emission analysis for process supervision and gap-control.

Chucking principle

Shoe centerless. The work pieces are loaded/unloaded through chutes.

External grinding of  bearing rings (or similar) of various types and dimensions.
